Commercial & Retail

inacoustic provide detail-oriented and pragmatic noise consultancy solutions – perfect for application to a commercial environment where noise control measures are key considerations through the lifecycle of a project, from planning or licensing applications to commissioning and handover.

Commercial or retail developments can introduce 24/7 noise through plant or mechanical ventilation, HGV movements or deliveries, increased car park usage and internal building activity. Our industrial acoustics expertise and demonstrable track record of pragmatic, value-engineered success is critical to ensuring  success through feasibility, planning, design and delivery stages.

In the case of mixed-use schemes, residential units are often located adjacent to (or in the same building as) commercial, retail or entertainment units, and so noise impact should be considered alongside the design of a functional scheme of building acoustics.

Entertainment venues such as cinemas, theatres and concert halls understandably have onerous internal acoustic, sound insulation and plant-noise requirements and have to be carefully designed to ensure that noise breakout from the building façade is kept to a minimum, whilst pubs, clubs music venues and festivals need to be able to carefully  monitor and manage their noise emissions so as to not breach their licensing conditions.

Commercial work taking place on an open air site, such as construction work, highways or infrastructure development, may require a Construction Noise Management Plan and will likely also require a noise impact assessment or a construction noise assessment (performed in compliance with BS 5228 in order to mitigate the impacts of noise and vibration). In the context of Highways and Infrastructure, this will often be undertaken as part of a Section 61 application, a process that inacoustic has extensive experience in delivering across the country.
