inacoustic Appointed on Core Valley Lines Scheme - South Wales

inacoustic has been appointed by Griffiths, a Welsh Civil Engineering company, to provide Construction Noise Monitoring and Section 61 support for the Transport for Wales Core Valley Line Transformation project (CVL).

Alongside Amey, who were appointed as the primary consulting engineer on the scheme, inacoustic were approached to provide construction noise expertise and specialist assistance throughout the Construction Noise Monitoring and Section 61 Submission processes.

The CVL project stretches across South Wales and is an integral part of the forthcoming South Wales Metro infrastructure scheme.

Being appointed on this scheme highlights the key working relationship that inacoustic has with Griffiths”, explained Bridgend-based Neil Morgan, Director and inacoustic’s lead acoustic consultant on the CVL project. “Our ability to quickly understand the critical challenges of the project and meet with tight reporting deadlines – all whilst upholding the best acoustic practices – has underlined the successes we’ve had to date and is representative of the sort of working partnership we aim to establish with all of our project partners or stakeholders."

inacoustic’s site engineers are planning to continue a schedule of evening and night-time noise monitoring at the CVL sites, the data from which will be used to establish existing baseline sound levels at each location and will also form the basis for subsequent noise assessment works.

Using the methodology set out in BS5228:2009+A1:2014, detailed noise predictions will be undertaken and the potential noise impacts associated with the planned construction works will be established. Additionally, where required, measures to mitigate the impact of noise during specific phases of work and Best Practical Means of noise reduction will be suggested. The BS5228:2009+A1:2014 assessment will also identify where exceedances in noise limits cannot be avoided, and where alternative arrangements will need to be considered.
